let's start, guys! all set? lights! camera! there's no one here, guys
Android camera Apps, apps for photography and video by paulo del valle welcome to my second video of... i don't know what i'm talking about anymore
you can see here that the situation is precarious i still don't have a nice set up here i'm at home i'm using my iphone earpod as a microphone i put it here on my shirt. it looks horrible. with time it will get better maybe the background will change one day i'll buy a real microphone to put it on the camera one day i'll get there
so don't bother with this i hope not to move a lot, so we don't get noise in this second video i wanted to talk about apps to help you take better photos and videos i didn't want to limit myself and only talk about taking photos and editing them i wanted to talk about all the process these are apps i use on a daily basis and they go beyond taking and editing photos it includes planning your shoot so you can plan the right day and time to shoot
also how to organize your photos and post the right ones and match the colors of your photos on your instagram feed first, talking about planning your shoot it's very important that you, as a photographer, know how to plan your shoot and choose the best day and the best time i said on my first video the importance of shooting during the "golden hour" which is the first 2 hours after sunrise and the last 2 hours before the sunset it's when the light is weaker and the shadows are soft
everything looks better anyway, it's always important to plan your shoot and there are apps to help you do that not only paying attention to the weather but also apps to help you look for places first, what i do a lot is i use weather apps to see how the next days are looking to see if it's going to be sunny or rainy also, all of them tell you what time is the sunrise and sunset many of the smartphones nowadays come with a weather app
the ios is an example but you can look for apps that are even better like "the weather channel" "weather underground" "yahoo weather" these are good apps to check out the next days also see if there will be clouds when you plan taking photos during sunset they look stunning if there are clouds on the sky
so it's ideal to plan and check out the forecast for the week specially if you are close to doing a commercial shoot because if it rains, maybe it will ruin your plans so, it may seem weird, but weather apps are very important for photographers there's a certain term used in photography called "location scouting" it's commonly used in commercial photography when you are about to do a commercial shoot and you choose a place to do it
it's important that you visit that place days before the shoot to see how it looks, the light conditions... also to see if it's crowded and more but sometimes, even for you personal projects, you want to choose places to shoot so, google maps is excellent for that you can use google street view to see the places you want to shoot you can see if it's easy to walk there, to climb something... so, bottom line, plan your shoot with weather apps to see the time of the sunrise and sunset
also see the weather forecast and google street view inside the google maps app it's good to use it when you are going to travel and you wanna check out the places to visit all these apps are available for ios and android now let's talk about apps to take photos nowadays, the smartphones are great and their own camera apps are good enough they have many features the iphone takes photos in movement android devices as well
the samsung galaxy has manual controls to take photos you can change iso, shutter speed... the iphone doesn't offer that yet i'm recording this video on a tuesday, september 6th tomorrow the iphone 7 will be launched maybe the new iphone will have manual controls if that doesn't happen there's an app on the app store called "manual camera" (or similar) you can have manual controls
there's "camera+" you can also change iso, shutter speed and more beside that, the ios and android camera apps are very good in case you have a device that doesn't take photos in movement i'm sure there are apps for that these manual camera apps you can find them on google play you will find them if you search for them i have 2 android devices and i have these apps installed
in case you are looking for an alternative for camera+ on android there's one called "camera fv-5" there's another one called "open camera" with manual controls as well a very cool app, available for both ios and android called "cortex camera" it's an amazing app to take noiseless photos unfortunately, nowadays smartphones aren't capable of taking photos without noise even if you take photos with a lot of sunlight
when you look at the sky in your photos, you see many little dots, which is called "noise" good thing there apps that help you with that and "cortex camera" is one of them available for ios and android it's excellent if you want to take sunset photos when you have low-light conditions so this app is perfect to remove noise you can use it any time of the day if you take photos with the camera app from your phone and you see noise
unfortunately it happens almost every time use "cortex camera" and you will have a smooth sky with no noise at all now let's talk about apps for editing i won't talk about all of them, of course i want to make separate videos reviewing each editing app showing you how to use it and what i think about it i also want to rank them
today i'm only going to talk about my favorite ones that i think you should use i edit my photos using adobe lightroom on my computer if i take a photo with my phone or camera, i transfer them to my computer and edit them on adobe lightroom it's a software that you pay monthly there are people that are not interested in that if you are a professional photographer i won't suggest you any other app
because "adobe lightroom" is the right one for you there are many people that take only mobile photos for personal use and social media of course, it's not necessary for them to make use of such advanced software there's a mobile version of adobe lightroom i don't recommend it it's similar to the one for computers but some of the main features are missing so i don't recommend the mobile version you would have to pay it monthly anyway
there are apps that are similar to adobe lightroom my favorite one for mobile devices is called "polarr" it's free it has some amazing tools super easy to use you use it for the first time and you understand it quickly it offers one of the things i use the most on lightroom which is the hsl hue, saturation and luminance of each color
if you are interested in changing the colors in your photos a greenish-blue or a pinkish-orange polarr is great for that another very good app is google's snapseed specially for beginners all you gotta do is slide up and down, left and right it's a great app it has an awesome "healing" tool
you can remove trash on the floor it's like a brush that you use with your finger you can also remove a person from a photo things that photoshop do of course, photoshop is a much more advanced tool adobe has some photoshop apps on the app store and google play there's "photoshop express" and "photoshop mix" if i'm not mistaken, i think there's one that's only available for ios called "photoshop fix"
great app for editing portraits you can manipulate the whole face making the nose smaller, removing imperfections... if i'm not wrong, it's only for ios if you want to use a free app available for both ios and android i suggest "airbrush" it's amazing for portraits and selfies it's crazy what it can do you can make the skin smooth, remove imperfections...
make the nose smaller, same thing that photoshop fix does airbrush does it too and it's free so, polarr is an amazing editing app it's close to adobe lightroom there's also snapseed also very good for editing i don't recommend you using some filters that snapseed has there's hdr and i've told you on my last video that hdr is not cool there's also one called "grunge"
don't use that stuff edit your photos manually snapseed is great for that there's also an app used by many i use it as well called "vsco" vsco is not good as an editing app it has some amazing presets vsco is only worth it if you are willing to pay for their presets
their presets are beautiful but they cost money it's not expensive if you work with photography you must invest some money i think there's a package of 36 presets for less than $7, if i'm not mistaken if you are a photographer, you must invest your money not only with good phones and camera gear but also in software
it's very important so, i recommend that all photographers use adobe lightroom also not expensive of course, only professionals make good use of it but there are apps that are similar like polarr vsco's presets are amazing i have them all if they release a new preset package, i buy it
if you want to use vsco, don't use it as an editing tool use it only if you use their presets it's worth the money this is what i do i edit my photo using another app like lightroom or polarr and then i open the photo on vsco if i think a preset looks good i rarely use the preset in its maximum intensity
you can adjust the intensity and i usually leave it in the middle vsco only if you buy their presets not as an editing app because it's not good for that now let's talk about video those who love to edit videos in my opinion, imovie is the best video app for ios if you bought an iphone recently, you can download it for free another great app for ios is called videon
it's like you are editing a photo you can change brightness, saturation, contrast... you can straighten your video as well it's great for editing the look of your video and imovie is perfect for trimming, adding music and more unfortunately there aren't many options for android the only app i found that looks similar is called "vivavideo" it seems good maybe it's not as good as the ones for ios
i know you can apply filters, edit it, trim it and add songs it seems it's the best option for android users an app i found recently called "unum" it's a very cool app one thing i do is that i always plan before posting my photos i only post a photo that i think that matches the photo i posted before thinking about the color tones i post in a "checkered" way
blue, sunset, blue, sunset, blue... it's funny but many instagram photographers plan their feed before posting we plan the whole thing and using this app you can do that you login with your instagram the app shows your recent photos it has some blank spaces that you can upload new photos you can drag them and change the order to see if they match with the other photos
i suggest you all to use it i've been using it and i find it interesting it offers you some analytics there's a graph of your likes and stuff for you to organize your photos i suggest "google photos" specially if you need to free some space in your phone it offers unlimited backup for photos up to 16mp a very cool thing that it does is that it organizes all your photos automatically it uses a recognition algorithm that google created
automatically identifies your photos of sunset, beach... and it separates them in albums mountains, sky, clouds, beach, sunset... it's impressive people as well it creates an album for each face you just have to name each one and then you can easily find them using the search the search is incredible if you look for "dog", you don't have to say that's a photo of a dog
it finds them automatically if you search for "sunset", it will find that as well it creates albums by places as well this app is essential to free some space in your phone specially those people that own a 16gb device you can back them all up on google photos and then erase them all from your phone that's it, guys! i hope you liked it i hope i haven't talked a lot again
i'm a beginner in this, so i'll try to make shorter videos please, don't forget to subscribe in case you haven't done that yet so you can get notifications when i post new videos i'm doing my best to post as much as i can i wanted to do it weekly and i'll try to do that of course, it depends on my work i also ask you to like this video the bigger the likes, the bigger the chance other people will see it feel free to share this video on your social media accounts
there's a lot of important and useful information for many people that wouldn't find this video share this video if you just got here and you don't know me make sure to follow me instagram, facebook, snapchat, twitter... @paulodelvalle
thanks for watching thanks for watching it until the end i'll see you guys...
