hi, my name is phillip. and today i am goingto bring you a gadget mechanics repair tip of the week. if you repair a lot of ipads, especially theipad 2, you have encountered a problem with the lcd either flickering, distorting colorsor not showing a picture. this problem is not necessarily a bad lcd or the cable. you’llbe surprised how simple the solution is to
Android facetime, this problem. when an ipad screen flickers, shows distortedcolors or doesn’t show a picture, you immediately assume its a bad lcd or lcd cable and proceedto replace the screen. sometimes this doesn’t solve the problem either.
well, i think we have the solution, electricaltape. first, turn off the ipad. next, remove the ipad glass and unscrew lcd. next, disconnect the lcd cable. disconnect the cable on the lcd too. now, get some electrical tape. cut a smallpiece and place it on the edges of the port. make sure to not cover the opening that thecable slides into. lay down the latch over the small pieces ofelectrical tape. you will notice that the latch is slightly hard to push down. the tapeis putting pressure on the connector, giving
it a better contact. place the black sticker over the latch, ifthere is none, use electrical tape. do the same thing on the port on the motherboard.insert the lcd cable into the port. push the latch down and place a piece of electricaltape over the connector. finally, return the lcd, screws and glassand re-adhesive the glass back to the frame. if done correctly, the lcd should be workingperfectly and you will not see any issues with the image anymore. this issue is common only on the ipad 2. theconnection gets weak over time and causes lcd image distortion. if you see this issuewith ipad 3 on up and the ipad minis, you
cannot use this technique because they donot use the metal latch system on the connectors. this has worked on 100’s of ipad lcd’sand has had a 95% success rate. we would like you to comment below with yourattempts using our techniques, or any technique
