the leelbox virtual reality headset is a fantasticway to experience virtual reality on a budget. this headset uses only a smartphone, and iscompatible with any ios or android phone with a screen size between 4.7 and 6.0 inches. today we’ll be unboxing this product, andshowing you how to get started. we’ll also talk about what we like and don’tlike about this headset.
Android jones vr, so the leelbox virtual reality headset comesin a fairly simple box. we’ll open it up and see what it includes. the first thing you’ll see is the headset, but we’ll take a better look at this in a minute.
there’s an included cleaning cloth to wipedust off the lenses, since this would interfere with the vr experience. there’s also a few wet wipes to clean thelenses if they get really dirty. finally, we’ve got an instruction manual, but we don’t really need to use this since the headset’s so simple to useto get started, you’ll need to download an app on your phone. this headset will work with any google cardboard-styleapp, and there are plenty of those available in the app store. before using the headset you’ll need tomake a few adjustments to get it to fit properly.
the first things to adjust are the straps. you want these tight enough so that the headsetwon’t move, but not too tight otherwise it won’t sit properly on your head. the goal is to have the triangle formed bythe three straps resting in the middle of the back of your head. if it rests on top of your head, the top strapis too tight. now put your phone in the headset. to open the front, just pull on it. it’s held closed with magnets.
put the top part in first and push up, otherwiseyou may break the clip. then make sure your phone is centered. now just launch a vr app so we can setup theheadset. you probably won’t be able to do this witha case on the phone. it makes it too thick and the magnet won’tlock the front panel closed. if you find your phone gets too hot usingthe headset, you can easily remove the front cover to allow more air to flow through. just pull it off, it’s also held on withmagnets. some apps or videos will require you to useheadphones.
luckily, these can plug into most phones andrun out the hole on the side of the headset. once the phone is in place, you’ll needto adjust the lens position. first, adjust the pupil distance with thetop knob. the lenses will move left and right. make sure that your eyes aren’t strainedor crossed. if you can’t get it right, you may needto re-center the phone. now adjust the focus. use the knobs on the side to move the phoneforwards or backwards until the image is clear.
if all the lenses are adjusted properly, youshould be able to use the headset without straining your eyes. at this point, you’re ready to use yourheadset to play vr games or watch 3d videos. overall, we found this headset to be verycomfortable, but the experience you have with it will definitely depend on the quality ofthe apps you’re using.
